Meet Queen Ajiere: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Queen is a Board Certified Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, who obtained both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing with distinction, from the University of St. Francis, Joliet Illinois. She also has a Master of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Akron, Ohio.

Her mental health experience spans over 16-years, while serving in various nursing specialties including child/adolescent/adult emergency nursing, home care nursing, case management/care co-ordination, palliative/end-of-life care, and community nursing. With this vast experience from diverse settings, she brings a unique care approach to her patients which is founded on active and empathetic listening, compassionate validation, and excellent communication, while building positive relationships with them. She sees patients across the lifespan; from children to adults, with various mental health diagnoses including depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenias, and personality disorders.

She strongly believes in using evidence-based practices to empower her patients with the treatment and tools they need to work towards their personal mental health goals. This is hoped to serve as a foundation for rebuilding, strengthening and/or enriching the meaningfulness of life. As a life-long learner, Queen believes in working alongside her patients to adapt their personalized care to reflect the ever-evolving advances in psychiatry for optimal results. She strives to work with her patients to restore their wholeness, one step at a time.

Aside from patient care, she also deeply enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and learning about different cultures, taking long nature walks, and yes, resting.
